Dream, formerly just Tony, is a top Marth main from Tennessee. He is the second best Marth in the club, and considered the third best player at the school where the club is hosted. Although he started playing Melee as a Kirby main, Dream has evolved into a fearsome Marth main who is able to rely on his understanding of Melee's mental game to gain victories. Along with Marth, he has an occasional Roy and Young Link that come into play in certain situations.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Origin

Dream's origins are shrouded in mystery, but it is assumed he discovered competitive Melee sometime in early 2015. He brought a CRT with Melee into the school's band camp in summer of 2015, which is arguably the origin of the group who plays Melee at the club today. After band camp, Dream became a regular at the library, where he showcased his skills with his main, Kirby. He said he mained Kirby because "everyone hated him," and in spite of his character's flaws, he was able to win many of his games, becoming one of the best players at the library. Around the time of the first meeting of The Smash Burros, he switched his main to Marth, after experimenting with the character in the library.

The Smash Burros

Dream was a serious threat going into the first tournament at the club. His first opponent was Patrick, who he swiftly defeated 2 - 0. Next, he took on Clifford. The Marth ditto set was closer, but it still resulted in a 2 - 0 from Dream. This advanced Dream to the semifinals, where he was one set away from qualifying for grand finals. In the qualifying match, he met up with Phobia. Unfortunately, Dream was defeated 0 - 2 by Phobia's Marth, sending Phobia to grand finals. Dream finished at third place, and his extensive usage of Marth in the tournament made him completely change his mindset. Before, he'd been playing with virtually the entire roster proficiently -- but, now, he had decided to make the switch to Marth.

The Smash Burros II

Dream went into The Smash Burros II a complete Marth main, and his first opponent was a mysterious 8BitCal, who had never been seen at the library or club before due to him going to another school. Dream managed to 2 - 0 8BitCal, sending him straight into top eight through the winners side. There, he again met up with Phobia. The result was the same as it was in the first tournament -- an 0 - 2 loss for Dream. This second loss hurt Dream's mindset, as he questioned his abilities after losing again to the same opponent. Still, he went on in losers bracket, encountering Frisk, another Marth player. This set was a 2 - 0 victory for Dream, who advanced to losers semis. His opponent there was Dr. Dread, who had scraped by 8BitCal in his side of the bracket to get there. Dream managed to defeat Dr. Dread 2 - 0 in an upset, ending the set famously with a forward smash on Dr. Dread while he was still in shield to take the final stock. Dream went on to fight Static in losers finals, where he lost 0 - 2 in an expected victory for Static. Dream finished at an impressive third place.
